Andrew Knight CV - careers in journalism
- Andrew worked as a reporter, features writer and features editor for the Aberdeen Evening Express in the 1980s, and was named Scottish Young Journalist of the Year in 1982. After a two-year spell with BBC Scotland in Glasgow he returned to print journalism as assistant editor of The Bath Chronicle.
- For two years, he was editorial training manager for the Western Mail & Echo in Cardiff responsible for all editorial training of 300 staff journalists working across daily, weekly, Sunday, magazine and digital media outlets.
- As well as teaching on postgraduate courses and for newspaper clients, he has distance learning journalism and freelance students all over the world.
- At various times he has specialised in writing about books, travel, eating out and motoring. He still writes a weekly motoring column, a fortnightly business diary and occasional magazine articles.
- Recent clients have included the Trinity Mirror, Northcliffe and Newsquest newspaper groups, Lloyds TSB, The Editorial Training Centre (Hastings), Cardiff University’s Centre for Journalism Studies, Bath University and Avon and Somerset Police, as well as the London School of Journalism.
